"Thousands have lived without love, not one without water."

The rural areas in Guatemala lack clean water and water service. Covadonga, located 2 hours from the city of Mazatenango, has never had water service. Their water comes from gathering water in wells located in different parts of the community.  Due to the lack of running water the Living Heritage Foundation has created the Water Filter Project.

The purpose of this project is to bring awareness to the importance of consuming clean water to prevent water borne diseases. Each filter costs $150 and the program includes:

  • Clean water training including nutritional facts, food preparation, etc.

  • How to assemble and proper care of the water filter

  • Provide deworming medicine for the family

  • Follow up visits to confirm the filter is properly being used
